La Asunción de la Virgen María- The Assumption of the Virgin Mary

Aunque fue reconocida formalmente como dogma de revelación divina en la Iglesia Católica hasta el 1 de noviembre de 1950 por el Papa Pío XII, la doctrina de la Asunción de la Virgen María se remonta a los primeros tiempos del cristianismo; ha sido enseñada y transmitida por la tradición apostólica, si bien no aparece específicamente en la Biblia. Tal acontecimiento se conmemora el 15 de agosto. Este dogma declara que “la Inmaculada Madre de Dios, la siempre Virgen María, habiendo completado el curso de su vida terrenal, fue asunta en cuerpo y alma a la gloria celestial.” Un dogma representa una doctrina que debe ser aceptada por todos los fieles como revelada por Dios.

English: Although it was recognized formally as a dogma of divine revelation by the Catholic Church until November 1, 1950 by Pope Pius XII, the doctrine of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary dates back to the early times of Christianity; it has been taught and transmitted by the apostolic tradition, albeit it does not appear specifically in the Bible. Such event is commemorated on August 15. This dogma declares that “the Immaculate Mother of God, the ever Virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul to heavenly glory.” A dogma represents a doctrine that must be accepted by all the faithful as revealed by God.
